Welcome!

Thank you for stopping by! My name is Julie and I live in Texas with my family of 5 peeps and two pups. I’m currently working as a district social-emotional coach for Keller ISD. I am a 15-year education veteran with classroom experience in grades 3-8. I was first inspired by empathy researcher, Michele Borba, whose influence sparked my interest in teaching what matters - empathy, kindness, and character. I am passionate about embedding social and emotional learning into classroom culture and content curriculum. Not only does this work reduce stress in our kids, but it improves their relationships and academic performance. Even better…it empowers them to make the world a better place.

Education is about inspiring kids to be all they can be, helping them discover their passions so they can change the world. This work starts with us. This blog is about inspiring educators to teach what really matters. Join me on this journey to changing the world…one classroom at a time. Follow me on Twitter and/or contact me to share your thoughts and ideas. Thanks for reading!

Julie has presented her work on the local, state, and national level. In 2017, she was named Secondary Teacher of the Year for Northwest ISD. She specializes in collaborative creativity, campus and district leadership, and inspiring teachers to be all they can be.
